Green Chemistry
Green chemistry is a scientific field that involves improving existing and developing new chemical processes and products that do not have a harmful impact on the environment or human health.
The ideas of green chemistry go beyond chemistry itself and extend to various fields, from energy to sustainable development.
The Green Chemistry program involves:
- systematization of knowledge about the state, development prospects, and principles of green chemistry and green technologies;
- familiarization with the new interpretation of green chemistry principles;
- deepening knowledge about the state of water resources in the world and in the Republic of Belarus;
- acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of water purification methods;
- formation of knowledge about the types of polymer materials;
- familiarization with the problem of environmental pollution caused by plastic waste;
- development of skills and techniques for producing biodegradable films and coatings for food packaging.

Green chemical synthesis is a symbiosis of many branches of chemistry (inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, etc.) and involves the use of green chemistry principles to improve chemical processes, develop fundamentally new approaches to obtaining industrially important compounds of various natures, create new materials and systems, and modify existing objects.
The Green Chemical Synthesis program includes:
- introduction to the basic principles of green chemistry and green design;
- study of current trends and prospects in the development of green synthesis methods for inorganic and organic substances in the world and in the Republic of Belarus;
- development of green methods for producing inorganic nanomaterials and industrially important organic substances;
- conducting research in the field of molecular modeling and its application in the design of new green materials and systems.
